20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Space Spider
Smaller than a fingertip, this jumping spider is one of thousands of related species often unseen despite their widespread presence. This one jumped onto my computer screen, where specs of dust, a trail of web, and the reflection of my hands make it appear as if the spider is floating through space.
