18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Space, the Final Frontier
With more than 80% of our oceans unexplored, space should be the last place to discover. My intention with this photo was to capture the alien-like quality that some of our species in our oceans have. I have an immense love for our oceans and I just wish for everyone to fall in love with it like I have. The ethereal beauty that exists on our planet should have us looking less at the stars for answers and more at our very home. I also want to convey the importance of keeping our oceans clean so that we have beautiful creatures to admire and learn from.
