We were staying at an indigenously-owned eco-resort, the Napo Wildlife Center, in the Yasuni National Park of Ecuador. We were exploring along some of the tributaries of the Napo (a huge river feeding the Amazon) via a large canoe. Our guide gestured upwards into the overhanging trees, pointing out this spider monkey. I was very fortunate to have captured this image, handheld on a telephoto lens, from the moving canoe.
