18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Spiky landing
While on Bonaire shouting wildlife pictures I was invited by Echo-Organization. That morning we left for the trip before sunrise. Our guide took us to a place where the yellow-shouldered amazon (Amazona barbadensis) parrots roost during the night in large groups. When the sun came the birds started flying around before leaving in couples or smaller groups. Just enough light for shooting pictures like this one.
