Spinners of Soajo, Portugal

Soajo is a village located above the Alto Lima, known for its picturesque espigueiros. In this village the tradition of the spinners has revived. "On winter afternoons, she spins, sings and waits... she is the spinner"... says the proverb. And the fact is that the spinning wheels and the spinning wheels were historically the meeting point for women who, sharing the ancestral craft of weaving, created community. Now a group of women have come together under the name of "Las Fiadeiras de Soajo" to promote the transmission of this beautiful tradition.
