Spiral Staircase, Castillo San Cristobal, Puerto Rico
This is a staircase in an Castillo San Cristobal in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The castle was built in 1766–1783 by the Spanish to defend the port that is now known as San Juan. The reason a spiral staircase was used in this part of the building is that it is within a tower and space was very limited.
