Spiritual leader dispelling a spirit from a dancer - Java/Indonesia

In Java, there is a traditional art form called Jathilan, which is known as a "possession festival". While dancing to the rhythmical traditional music, dancers are put into a trance by a spiritual leader, and are one by one possessed by spirits (ancestral spirits and animal spirits). The possessed dancer begins to act beyond the realm of human beings. They dance really, really beautifully and act according to the spirits characters. However, sometimes the spirit does not leave the dancer's bodies even after the dance is over. Desperate, the spiritual leaders performs a spirit exorcism in the dressing room, back stage. They fight with the spirit, which does not want to leave the human world. This photo shows a spiritual leader frantically dispelling a spirit from a dancer.
