14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Sustainable Travel
Spotting future possibilities.

I am a teacher currently volunteering in the Galápagos Islands. If we are to be successful in preserving our planet for future generations, we must start by educating our community of the wonderous gift our planet is to us. When we travel, it musn't be just to drink fancy cocktails or party to dawn. Mylo the Dalmatian leads tours through the mountains of Ecuador where travelers can experience and learn what natural beauty is in the world and what we must do to save it. Leave only footprints, take only photos, treasure the real thing, not only it's memory. I have pledged to give up my life to teach in one of the worlds most endemic environments on the globe so that the people here have the tool of multiple communication on their side so they may educate tourists of the efforts needed to preserve landscape such as this. We all need to do our part spotting possibilities for improving the future.
