Eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly (Papilio glaucus Linnaeus) on "Rhododenron maximum" blooming in the Spring in Virginia. I was carrying my Sony Alpha 7ii FE digital camera, with an 18-20 mm zoom lens and was able to capture a perfect pose, on a perfect bloom, in perfect lighting. I spot-metered and focused on the sunlit butterfly, which provided somewhat darker flowers, leaves, and blue sky leaking through the forested canopy. The Eastern tiger swallowtail is the state butterfly of Virginia.
