Sri Lankan Spotted Deer
They are also called Sri Lankan Axis Deer. This herd was seen at the Yala National Park. They tend to flee for the slightest noise or disturbance. They are hunted for meat by villagers and within the park these animals are prey for leopards. The Spotted Deer, always in groups of 10 or more, are found only in Sri Lanka. The deer population is considered to be vulnerable.
