St Daniel Tomb
March 18, 2025 – Samarkand, Uzbekistan A group of Uzbek women in traditional attire. The costume consists of a silk tunic paired with wide trousers (lozim), often made from the precious khan-atlas fabric with its vivid patterns. The headdress may include a small embroidered skullcap or a scarf. Colors once carried symbolic meaning: blue and purple for families of high rank, green for peasants and artisans. Traditional mahsi shoes, soft and without heels, are still valued today for their comfort.
