St John Stone Church

Historic Architecture is under attack in Canada's Oldest City, Saint john, New Brunswick, Canada. The old churches in the Uptown are falling down due to a lack of maintenance funds. One beautiful Historic Church, Centennial, was demolished in favor of an apartment building. The Churches in the Uptown are what makes Saint John unique in Canada. It's all being lost to the wrecking ball. This photo is of St. John Stone Church on Carleton Street. It is one of the first churches erected in Saint John, NB at the head of Germin Street just up from King Street -the main street in the city. The rectory was already torn down. It is an officially declared an historic property in our fair city. Many Americans come to visit Saint john in the Summer and Fall. If we keep going our way, we won't have anything for them to see.
