St. John the Baptist

Devotees of Saint John praying in front of the church of Saint John the Baptist parish church during the celebration of Taong Putik Festial devotees and residents of Barangay Bibiclat, Aliaga, Nueva Ecija bathe in mud and using banana leaves as their coats to thank their patron St. John the Baptist on June 24, 2019. The Taong Putik Festival (mud peoples) is an annual feast held every 24 June. It is a religious festival celebrated by the locals and devotees to pay homage to San Juan Bautista on his feast day by wearing costumes patterned to his attire. The taong putik (mud peoples) soak themselves in mud and cover their body with dried banana leaves as their coats and visit houses or ask people for alms in a form of candle or money to buy candles which they offer for Saint John the Baptist to celebrate his feast day.
