The second largest Mardi Gras celebration in the United States takes place in St. Louis, Missouri, in a small neighborhood called Soulard. On a sunny Saturday morning, my college friends and I crammed into the Metro with hundreds of others, all a little too drunk and a little too loud for our own good. It was the first year for Soulard Mardi Gras since Covid, and I intended to savor every moment.
