Standing on Mark Twain Stump, Kings Canyon, National Park
My two daughters ascend Mark Twain Stump which represents the moment of understanding the importance of saving these trees. One daughter is in sunshine as the other is still in shadow as she ascends the ladder. Our country was full of doubters about these marvelous trees and this tree was chosen to be sent out to show the grandeur of the species. It worked and we have these beautiful trees today because of foresight of people over 100 years ago.
