This is an image of the edge of a pier facing the infamous "rock island" at San Francisco's Lands' End. Because one cannot see the steps at the edge of the pier, this view looks like one could simply walk off the pier right into the Pacific Ocean that it faces. It's just an ominous illusion based on the angle of the photograph.
