Still Hope

The last five years have demonstrated that the world is increasingly unstable and unpredictable. Everything can change dramatically at once - as we all learnt from Covid. Then wars and military conflicts broke out in different parts of the world. Big changes have happened to my family too - we left Russia four years ago, lived in Armenia, the UAE, and now we are based in the USA. I feel the world like a stormy ocean now. Nothing is stable except volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. Feeling all these inside myself, I was mesmerized by the scene in the Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. Three men were assembling a large Christmas tree covered in lights. As if the world were the same as it was 10, 20, or even 100 years ago. Is there anything left to hope for now?
