18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Storm at the Kiselev rock.

Kiseleva Rock is a natural monument, the layered structure resembles halva. It is part of the specially protected area Kadosh forest park. The rock got its name in honor of the artist Alexander Kiselev, who dedicated several paintings to it. The rock is also famous for the fact that it was here that the famous episode of the film "The Diamond Hand" was filmed, where the boy walked on water. It is really easy to do this here, because the bottom of the sea next to the rock is covered with reefs that used to be layers of this rock and the like. Every year in winter, the rock loses a layer - the sea collects its tribute, which means the day will come when the unique place will dissolve in the abyss of waves.
