18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Street children

These children are from homeless families who lived in every nooks and corner of the streets where they can find simple comfort and solace of their makeshift homes. Their parents normally asked alms from passers-by or from kind hearted souls who gave them some money or food. Normally, the parents of these street children have no regular work and some worked as scavengers or any menial jobs just to earn a few cents to enable them to eat for a day or so. However, most of the time, these families transfer from one place to another when they are driven away during the clean up drive in the city.
