Su Prugadoriu - Sardinian Halloween
The traditional celebration of Halloween in Sardinia is rooted in prehistoric rituals that have been maintained on the island for millennia. In the village of Seui it's called Su Prugadoriu, meaning "purgatory." Men dress in animal skins and horns, darken their faces, and perform ceremonies around bonfires. These revelers are in Seui, one of the remote mountain villages where the old traditions live on.
