19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Subject becomes Photographer

I was watching two yearlings grazing in the field when they decided to walk back to the pathway. I took my camera off the tripod to be more mobile with them and I had to back up several times away from them and my tripod. They kept walkinv my way and I kept backing up. The young yearlings had literally just been released from the mother days before and are very used to human presence. They were very curious cubs. As I watched them I snapped this photo when one of them stood up.
