On a small boat tour in the Kazinga channel, a narrow waterway connecting Lakes Edward and George, hippos were shy around us based on their previous human experiences. These massive and potentially dangerous beasts are often harassed by local fisherman, and they therefore seek refuge in the water when humans get close.
