Summer Colors of the Sonoran Desert
Taken during a hot mid-summer night, this photo shows the flower of a jumping cholla, also known as the hanging chain cholla, cactus native to Sonora and the Southwestern United States. Due to the lack of water in the desert, this cactus represents a really important source of food and water for the local fauna.
