Summer Festival in Osaka

For more than a thousand years, Osaka has held a summer festival called the Tenjin Matsuri in which 3000 celebrants dressed in Heian era costumes parade in the streets of the city and on the river by boat. Festival boats over the Dotonbori river can be seen in the foreground of the picture while Japanese locals try to capture the moment with their cellphone cameras.
