This was taken at the Bloody Angle at the Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield. This was the scene of some of the deadliest fighting of the American Civil War, nearly 24 hours of cannon fire, shooting, and hand to hand combat. A horror. The scene today is so beautiful that it is hard to imagine.
