Fiddlehead Fern
Although I was drawn to this plants interesting shape, I was surprised to learn that it's an edible plant. The fiddlehead resembles the curled ornamentation (called a scroll) on the end of a stringed instrument, such as a violin. It has been harvested and used for centuries as a vegetable in Northern France, Asia and by Native Americans.
