Early morning sunrise from the island of Hawaiʻi. The endemic ʻōhiʻa tree is one of the most important plants in Hawaiʻi and and is one of the first plants to grow on a new lava field. These trees are growing in a 150 year old lava field at 5,800 ft on the Maunaloa volcano.
