16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Sunset in the Serengeti National Park.

When the sun sets up above the vast endless plain of the Serengeti, it brings to life a complex ecosystem in Africa. Serengeti National Park is the biggest national parks in Africa. The word Serengeti comes from a Maasai word "Siringeti" which means "endless plains". Serengeti is one of the famous tourists destination in terms of wildlife diversity and landscape features. After a long day of tour guiding, in the evening just 30minutes before the evening team - when I walked outside of my tent, I saw this amazing sky and landscape reflection from the sun that left me in aweh! The sun set was truly mother nature masterpiece because of the orange, pink and yellow colour that the sun reflected on the endless plains of the Serengeti. When the sun sets in the Serengeti National Park it refracts the sun rays from Lake Victoria which is just kilometers away from the plains of the Serengeti to create this amazing sun set.
