Praying mantises have long been viewed as “sit-and-wait predators”; they observe their prey and do not strike until the moment is right. So the feeding behaviour of the praying mantis typically consists of a period of visual search, a slow approach to the prey, capture by an extremely rapid grasping movement of the raptorial prothoracic legs and ingestion of the captured food. In this image, a Praying mantis just started eating a Damselfly. I found this in our home garden among the Lagerstroemia indica flowers as those flowers are excellent for hiding for this predator.
