Synchronous fireflies are one of 19 species that live in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The flash pattern of the fireflies is a series of 5-8 flashes, followed by a pause of about 7 seconds, and then it repeats. The mating season of fireflies lasts for approximately 2-3 weeks yearly.
