22nd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Artistic
Swan Portraits

When wild animals inhabit urban areas, they remain untamed, but their increasing interaction with humans leads them to subtly adapt to our presence. Over time, they begin to display behaviors that mirror aspects of human culture. Rather than photographing them strictly within a "wildlife" context, I approach these animals as portrait subjects, aiming to capture their natural beauty and unique expressions, much like I would with human models—though, of course, without the ability to guide their poses. This allows me to portray their grace and individuality in a more intimate, personal light.
