Calm days in St. Petersburg are extremely rare. It is always windy. Having grown up in St. Petersburg and having to move abroad at the age of 30, I really missed it, though felt more like a visitor there after living for a long time outside of it. I was fascinated by the new area built around the stadium, but my biggest impression came from the absolutely flat waters of the river Neva and the Gulf of Finland.
