A giant sinkhole exists at Buraco das Araras in Brazil's Southern Pantanal. This sinkhole looks like a canyon, and it contains an ecosystem. Many birds call this place home, including a number of red-and-green macaws. Just after sunrise and before sunset, the macaws fly back and forth across the open expanse. At times, they fly through shafts of sunlight. The background can be the dark forest at the bottom of the sinkhole or the colorful canyon walls. This pair flew in front of the reddish cliff wall with the sun illuminating their spectacular colors.
