Taking Flight

I took this photograph at Wichita’s beautiful Botanic Gardens. I have walked past this sculpture many times and always admired the two Blue Herrons leaping into flight. But this time, with the light morning fog and soft misty rain the sculpture took on a whole new and special meaning to me. I felt at peace, a quite calm ; a feeling of serenity. I stood there looked at the sculpture for a few minutes but still couldn’t decide how best to capture the mood; my feelings. I finally took the image knowing that I could isolate the herons from the background and by using gaussian blur I could totally the background. I hope you like this image
