Taktsang 7

Taktsang, or the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, clings dramatically to a cliffside in Bhutan’s Paro Valley, marking the site where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated in the 8th century after flying there on the back of a tigress. Built in 1692 and restored after a major fire in 1998, it remains one of Bhutan’s most revered spiritual landmarks. In the soft mountain light the monastery appears almost otherworldly, seeming to hover between earth and sky.
