19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Taller Than Our Soul
This photo was taken at a local beach recently. I wanted to tell a story that touched on the theme of life after death. I liked how the tree appeared similar to depictions of "the tree of life" I had seen in other artworks. I also liked how the old man appeared to be walking towards the horizon, as if preparing to cross to a place beyond this world.
