Tarpan

People perform libation ('tarpan' which means satiation) as a mark of respect and gratitude to their deceased ancestors, along with all beings, during the fortnight of forefathers ('pitripaksha'), on the riverbed of Gandheshwari near the city of Bankura, India. Gandheshwari (Goddess of aroma) is a river dying due to encroachment and pollution. But still in 'sharat' (season after summer rain), white kāsh flowers transforms her riverbed into a beautiful landscape.
