Valparaiso is a gem on the Pacific due west of Chile's capital, Santiago, with an abundance of cliffside homes of every imaginable color. Staircases connect many of its sidestreets but this one combines steps with a smoothed concrete slide that children of all ages, as well as anyone with a cellphone, enjoy.
