Temple of Hercules Victor

Rome's ancient Temple of Hercules Victor has been through many transformations serving over the years, among other things, as both a pagan temple and Christian church. The earliest surviving marble building in Rome, it dates from the mid-second century BC. Today the old structure continues to evolve, as evidenced by the colorful construction netting that has sprouted around its perimeter. In Rome I am always struck by the collision of the old and new. The city absorbs and thrives on the contrasts. At the ancient Temple of Hercules Victor, colorful orange plastic construction netting is challenging the old building's elegant classical lines. I was compelled to stop and make a shot of this moment in the temple's long history.
