Tender Embrace Post Race

In the rush to get June to her gate in the rain we forgot her jersey. She wasn’t allowed to race in her short sleeve shirt so we improvised and I gave her my elbow pads. She was embarrassed, and was in tears at the starting gate and through the race, but still took second! Thanks to the kids and parents around who said how cool she looked to try and console June. She was sobbing after crossing the finish line that she couldn’t pump with daddy’s big elbow pads on. What a competitor. (Picture taken by J. Pennucci)
