14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Thanksgiving in Tenakee Hot Springs

This remote little Alaskan town has a population of about 130 people and one road running the length of the village. No cars, just atv's, bikes, and feet are used to get around. Tapping into the geo thermal energy, the village has a community bath house with separate hours for men and women to soak. Weekly ferry service and float plane flights connect Tenakee to the outside world.
