This is the iconic Japanese maple tree in Portland, Oregon. Once a year it displays its best colour in the fall. from what i was told, the colour varies every year, this year was a vivid orange with shades of yellow and red. i have long wanted to take a photo of this tree after seeing it online a few years ago. this year we had the opportunity to take my mom (who loves Japanese gardens) to visit in Oregon. A week before our trip my lens broke but luckily a friend lent me his for this trip. we were on site at 630 am to avoid the crowd. it was a buckletlist checked for me but most importantly taking my mom with me to enjoy the garden is what makes this photo special.
