The 25 de Abril Bridge
The 25 de Abril Bridge is one of the symbols of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. It connects Lisbon with the south oof Almada municipality crossing the Tagus river. It has a total length of 2,277 metres, its construction start in 1962 and it was opened in 1966. The bridge was named Salazar Bridge (Ponte Salazar), after Portuguese dictator Antonio Salazar. After the Carnation revolution the bridge was renamed for April 25, the date of the revolution (1974).
