14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
The BagaheeraI

I was down on the waterfront in Portland Maine and at the end of one of the fishing docks was this beautiful sailboat. It was docked at the very end and calling it a sailboat is really an injustice. It's a two mast schooner, with canvas sails and all the rigging that goes along with it. The hull a dark blue and teak around the top. There was oak throughout the boat, not being a sailor I know very little about boats like this but I found it very majestic. The light bouncing off the water onto the hull, the ropes and sails I just thought it made a very nice composition.
