It's common for me to take photos in and around my current home. I lived in a different place every year of college. The balcony in the photo was my worst apartment experience by far. That day I had scheduled a shoot, but none of us were feeling it. I decided to take a portrait from far away, making the subjects feel small. The whole ordeal reminded me of the struggle of housing in the U.S.
