20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
The Bathtub
This Photo was taken in a remote part of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. A river, like many around it, flows into the Atlantic Ocean, in turn offers some of the best catch and release salmon fishing in North America. This spot in the vast wilderness of Labrador is rarely ever witnessed by humans, even less so in the winter time. The Bathtub, nicknamed for the natural pools separated by this isolated island. I lost myself in the white noise of the river rapids and the heat of a small fire in below freezing temperature. It's an experience I will not soon forget.
