The bloody islands

The Sanguinaires Islands are an archipelago of four rocky islands of magmatic origin composed of a dark rock, diorite, and a lighter rock, a monzonitic granite. The name of the archipelago comes from the red porphyry of which the islands are made. Sunset is the most beautiful moment to see them from the coast, when they are tinged with the vermilion color of the sun setting behind the horizon. It is difficult to think of a more evocative and romantic panorama. The Sanguinaires Islands also have a rich and mysterious past.
