The Blu Girl.
Insect farming, a practice rooted in both ancestral knowledge and cutting-edge research, promotes more equitable and regenerative agricultural models. Some insects, in fact, can upcycle organic waste into biofertilizer and feed for animals such as chickens, and many freshwater fish, which eat insects in their natural diet. Replacing soymeal and fishmeal as feed can help to reduce deforestation, soil degradation, and overfishing: all results of the current highly extractive agri-food system. In the picture a worker is portrayed inside the black soldier fly adult room, in a pilot production site in Italy. The color and frequency of light play a crucial role in optimizing BSF reproduction.
