23rd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Wildlife
The blue-footed Booby
The Blue-footed Booby, famous for its bright turquoise feet and clumsy charm, is one of the Galapagos’ most beloved residents. Its name comes from the Spanish “bobo,” meaning fool - yet this bird is anything but confident and curious. It symbolizes the fearless wildlife that makes these islands so unique.
