The Bodie Island Lighthouse and Double Keepers' Quarters

The Original Bodie Island Bodie Light House was build in 1847 and was abandoned due to poor foundation and erosion. The Second one was built in 1859 and was destroyed in 1861 by concrete troops who feared it would be used as a observation post by the Union troops. The current Bodie Island Lighthouse and Double Keepers' Quarters located on the Outer Banks in North Carolina and was built in 1872. The lighthouse showed sign of structural issued and after years of fund raising and the restoration begun in 2009 and continues...
